In celebration of a century of weddings, we at Nagengast Florist are currently compiling photographs of wedding flowers designed by our shop. Any photographs you are willing to share with us and future brides can be mailed to us, brought into our shop for scanning or emailed to nagengastweddingphotos@gmail.com. We hope to make 2010 a special year by remembering all the people who trusted us with the moments of their lives. We assure same day delivery for orders taken before 12:00 noon E.S.T.
Within Albany a delivery fee of $7.00 will be added to each order, for each address. (For deliveries outside our local area this fee may vary.) U.S. orders must be recieved before 12:00 noon in the recipient's time zone to assure same day delivery. Orders received after 12:00 noon in the recipient's time will be delivered the following day.

Emil J. Nagengast Florist has always been a true full-service brick and mortar flower shop.

Many online companies, calling themselves "florists", never handle a single stem! They will take your order and send it to a local florist who fills the order and delivers it to the best of their ability. The "order gatherers", as they are called, charge considerable fees.

The following are service charges as of August 14,2008:

Teleflora.com $13.99
1-800-Flowers $13.99

These are service charges just for handling the order. They can have no idea of what containers or flowers are available in any one of the filling shops. Their fees may be a clear addition to the price of items in your shopping cart but order gatherers may also be take money out of the amount you think you are spending on the flowers. The receiving florist usually receives the order at a fraction of the price you have paid. In addition their pictures are merely suggestions of what you may receive.

Other online companies "drop ship" from warehouses far from the recipient's address. The flowers are sent in bunches, sometimes along with a vase, in a cardboard box via large shipping companies. These boxes may be left on doorsteps for hours or days throughout the year, rain or snow. The recipient is responsible for arranging the flowers to the best of their ability and disposing of the mess.

This February, Emil J. Nagengast Florist proudly participated in the 19th Annual New York in Bloom event for the New York State Museum at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. New York in Bloom is the primary fund raiser for the New York State Museum's award-winning Museum Club and Discovery Squad After-School Programs. Emil J. Nagengast Florist contributed four designs to the Museum this year. Pamela Nagengast designed a beautiful tropical inspired red arrangement for the front hall of the museum. Mary Beth Hotaling created a stunning all white arrangement for a black and white print of old Dutch Albany. Jenn Whiting designed a piece inspired by the whale exhibit and Margie Amodeo's arrangement complemented an old parade cart in the fire engine exhibit. The Nagengast family is proud to continue supporting local programs that educate both children and adults about our precious and fragile environment and the fascinating history of New York State. Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
